Simple Steps to Tagging Photos on Twitter

Now, this is not the latest innovation by Twitter. In fact, they rolled out this update in March. However unlike on Facebook, not many users have been making use of this social sharing option on Twitter. Like tagging on Facebook improves the visibility of your post on Facebook, it does the same on Twitter. Hence after three months of this feature being made available by Twitter, we are giving a simple guide to tagging people on Twitter. Here goes…

1) Log into Twitter on your mobile app or desktop and click on the quill icon that exists on the top right corner.

2) That click will give you two options – take a picture or select one from your photo library.

3) Once you are okay with the picture, type out the tweet you want to post.

4) You have an option below your picture that says, “Who’s in this photo”. Click on that option.

5) A list of various people will show up under your tweet. The order of this least is directly proportional to the level of your interaction with them.

6) You can also type out the name or handle of the person you want to tag.

7) You can select up to 10 people.

8) If the person you want to tag has disabled the option for users he/she doesn’t follow to allow them to tag in picture, you will see that notification right next to the name of that particular user.

9) When you are done tagging, click on the button that says “Done” on the right corner above.

10) That click will show you the draft of the tweet including the name of the person/s to be tagged below the picture you selected. You can either post the tagged pictures along with the content or without it.

Path Implements “Unbundling” Trend, launches Path Talk App

Path, the photo-focused social networking app is now splitting in two services. The messaging part will be now turned into an app called Path Talk. The rest (sharing status updates, pictures, videos, locations, music and movies) will remain the same and be part of the Path app.

Path has made few changes to its interface and it also does not restrict the users to 150 friends. The company is pursing the trend of “unbundling”, in which the features of an app are divided into separate apps.

Path’s CEO, Dave Morin said:

“There was this global realization last year that breaking up the app into multiple apps is the way to go. Our realization was that Path was a pretty good Swiss Army knife. We never thought we’d be in the messaging business.”

In the Asian market, the messaging feature has been the biggest growth driver for the company. The app has more than 4miilion users on a daily basis. The new Path Talk, app was launched for iOs and Android last week. It provides similar features for messaging as the core app Path.

But within 24 hours, the messages inside Path Talk will vanish from the servers of Path. On allowing the desired permissions to the app, it can share data such as current location, transit status, songs paying on a users phone or even the status of battery.

The company was founded back in 2010. Venture-capital firms like First Round Capital, Index Ventures and Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers have jointly pumped in almost $77 million in funds to build the products for the company.

Arena Fonte Nova, Salvador

GIF’s and Animated Images are Now Supported by Twitter

It has been announced by micro-blogging site that GIF’s and animated images can now be shared on the site though iPhone, Android web interface. A play button will appear on the timeline of users when GIF’s appear, similar to vines and other video content. To upload a GIF, users need to make use of the gallery button that can be seen under the text box. The process is same as that of uploading photos.

The only to share a video of Twitter is via Vine. Hence this makes GIF’s as the first type of video content that normal users can upload. Services such as Twitpic enabled users to share GIF’s. However, the latest feature has eradicated the full functionality of Twitpic on the site.

As of now its does not appear as though the support for GIF extends to Tweetdeck or tablet devices. The popularity of GIF’s on social media is undeniable. Even Pinterest enabled GIF support early this year.

Facebook does not support GIF’s but these files are converted into Flash files. This is a very good moved by Twitter. With Vines doing so well on Twitter, users will enjoy incorporating GIF’s in their tweets and it could prove to be yet another innovative way for brands to share content.

Users Watching Videos on Facebook Will Now See Increase In Video Ads

If you tend to watch a lot of videos on social media site Facebook, there are chances of your page being target with video ads by marketers. This is due to the new tool that is incorporated by Facebook that helps brands target customers. This news was reported by Mashable.

If for a brand, the number of views are important, they must notify that to Facebook, who will make sure their video ads are placed to maximize views through clicks. In an attempt to improve their video ad offering, Facebook not only added this new targeting tool, but has also incorporated several other features to help marketers.

Every video ad can now include a call to action or CTA at the end of it. This helps them to re-target users by luring them into checking out more videos. There has been a vast improvement in the precision of the targeting tools of Facebook.

Facebook rolled out Premium video ads in match. However, the latest features do not apply with it. The advantage of standard video ads are they there is no specific length, they don’t auto-play and they contain a label that says, “sponsored”, so the user knows it is a sponsored ad and has the option to ignore it.

This latest development is a cleat indication of the company’s foray into video advertising at a larger scale. The market for video ads on the world’s biggest social network is pretty big and marketers know their ads will draw a lot of eyeballs.

The social media giant is also working with Ace Metrix, a TV advertising firm to help them screen all their premium ads before they appear on the website. This is more of a quality assurance measure adopted by Facebook to make sure the ads won’t upset the users.

Facebook will implement these new tools in just a matter of weeks for the standard video ads. Hence users who tend to watch a lot of videos on Facebook will have sponsored video ads appearing on their timeline.
